Bakkhali
Sea side resort on the beaches of Bay of Bengal. Distance from Kolkata- 180 Km.
Bakkhali Diary 19th January: From Howrah we started our tour to Bakkhali. Bakkhali is 180 Kilometers from Calcutta. First we took a Taxi and went to Alipore Zoo. Then from Zoo we took a Sumo and a Qualis and went to Bakkhali. When our cars reached Diamond Harbour we met the river Ganges. There was also a hotel over there. We had our breakfast over there. After that we went to Namkhana which is situated beside the river Hatania Doania. We crossed the river in a Berge. After that we reached Bakkhali. It’s a beautiful place with trees and green grass. There were three swings also. There was also a lawn to provide for the children to play. Our hotel was Tourist Lodge Guest House. 20th January: From Bakkhali we could also see the Bay of Bengal. This day we went to an island in Sundarbans by steaming boat. The island’s name is Bhagabatpur. When we reached there we saw many crocodiles ranging from little just born ones to 22 ft big one. The crocodiles were kept in proper cages. In a cage I saw two crocodiles fighting. After returning from there we had our lunch in a launch. From there we came back to our hotel at 8’o clock. The journey in the boat is unforgettable and enchanting. 21st January: We started our return journey this day. First from Bakkhali we took the two cars and reached near the Berge. Suddenly my father saw a folk singer and told him to sing two of their folk songs. The folk singer sang so beautifully that my father was very glad and gave him 20 rupees. After that when the folk singer finished singing the Berge started. When the Berge reached its place the cars started moving again. When we were on the Vidyasagar Setu we again met the river Ganges. The cars stopped from where we started our journey. Then we rode on a rickshaw and came back home.
